Connect ChatGPT
Read and update your pod from ChatGPT conversations.
Before you start. Custom MCP connectors need Developer mode. On Business and Enterprise workspaces, an admin must allow it.
With the Synap Cloud connector

- In ChatGPT, open Settings → Apps & Connectors → Advanced settings and turn on Developer mode.
- Back in Apps & Connectors, choose Create. Name it Synap and paste the server URL:
https://api.synap.live/mcp - Set authentication to OAuth, create it, and sign in with your Synap account.
- In a chat, add Synap from the + menu.
- Ask: “list my Synap pods”. The first time, each pod returns a one-time approval link — open it and approve on your pod.
If something goes wrong
The connector is added but no pod data comes back.
Each pod must be approved once. Ask “list my Synap pods” — a pod that is not connected yet returns an approval link. Open it, approve on your pod, then ask again.
You have more than one pod and answers come from the wrong one.
Say which pod to use (“focus on my work pod”). The connector keeps that focus for the conversation.
A tool you expected is missing.
The Cloud connector exposes a curated set of your pod's tools. Everything else is still on your pod — use the Synap app, or the direct pod connector from a desktop client.
ChatGPT asks for confirmation before every change.
That is ChatGPT's own guard for write actions in Developer mode. Your pod still reviews consequential changes as proposals on top of it.

A pod URL with an API key will not connect. ChatGPT connectors authenticate with OAuth, not custom headers. Use the Synap Cloud connector.
